Overview
Nylon-coated cleaning rod with ball-bearing handle for precise and barrel-friendly maintenance of rifle bores.
Product description
Dewey cleaning rods are coated with a durable nylon layer to protect all parts of the firearm during cleaning—especially valuable barrels—from scratches. The spring steel core ensures the necessary stability, and the multi-ball-bearing handle allows patches and brushes to precisely follow the rifling of the barrel. This enables effortless and effective cleaning while also reducing wrist strain.
Each cleaning rod comes complete with a brass jag and brush adapter (for patch spiking or wrapping). Rod length is measured without the handle.
Only a perfectly clean, copper-free barrel can deliver consistent top precision.

Note on DM17 and DM20
- Supplied with brass jag (.17 or .20 caliber) without brush adapter.
- Dewey .17 and .20 caliber brushes use 5/40 thread and fit directly into the rod’s internal thread.
- When using for .22 LR, you will also need adapter DM17A.
- While using DM17 or DM20 for larger calibers is technically possible with the DM17A adapter, we do not recommend it. The rod’s 5/40 internal thread is very fine due to its small diameter. Cleaning larger calibers often requires higher force, and the manufacturer cannot guarantee that these small-caliber rods will withstand such stress over time without damage.
Note on .22 LR / lfB / Rimfire
For .22 LR, especially in tight-tolerance barrels, the manufacturer recommends using the DM20 rod with adapter 17A, as the DM22 rod may fit too tightly.
